World-Class PC Chip Designer Selects IntraStage for Next-Generation Analytics on Reliability Data

(San Diego), (September 20, 2011) —IntraStage, a provider of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Test Data Management, and Analytics software solutions, announced that a world leader in PC Chip design and manufacturing has selected its software solution for improving visibility into the reliability of its products.

HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) and Life Testing has long been a part of the process to ensure quaility and reliability in circuit cards and electronic products.   These tests vary but the core idea is to test these products over a period of months to years and subject them to different environmental conditions (temperature, voltage etc). Such testing generate gigabytes of test data continously and would require the customers’ engineers to do alot of manual work including physically walking down to the test floor, pulling the files, and bringing the files back to their workstation for analysis and review.  In addition to costing significant time and labor, this process also led to the discouragement of the implementation of SPC techniques as complete reviews of the data only took place every six months.  Now, using IntraStage’s web interface, they can obtain and analyze real-time results from anywhere in the world, and share their findings with the internal and external parties necessary for substantive process improvement before quality issues devolve into manufacturing crises.

“Our deployment allows our customers to achieve significant labor savings as reliability engineers can access and perform web-based quality reviews anywhere,” said IntraStage CEO Patrick Kelly. “In addition,” he continued, “the better communication of data between test engineers and quality engineers results in overall better product quality and streamlined processes for our customers worldwide.”

Goodrich Aerospace Global Repair Center chooses IntraStage to accelerate Diagnostics and Repair time

(UK) Goodrich Aerospace, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of complex aerospace products has selected IntraStage to be a provider of their Return and Repair Test Data Management software solution.

As the cost and complexity of electronic devices is increasing in aerospace products from landing gears to control systems, there is a driving need to ensure these products have long operational life spans. In some cases, these products are returned from the field for repair, tuning or refurbishment and it is up to the manufacturer to ensure that the product is accurately diagnosed and repaired. “There is a whole process flow around returns, diagnostic and repair that is needed to provide rapid and accurate deployment back to the field”, says Harsh Wanigaratne, VP Sales & Marketing at IntraStage. “IntraStage can provide both a method to input and aggregate repair data so that our users can instantly pinpoint failures, understand where the most failures are happening and also recommend which repairs are most common. The end goal here is to improve the productivity of the team to more rapidly root-cause issues.”

Goodrich Aerospace will use IntraStage’s software as one of their many steps to improve their overall efficiencies and productivity at their global repair sites.

IntraStage Raises Funds to Accelerate Growth

IntraStage Inc., a San Diego based provider of Quality Management software for the Electronics Manufacturing industry, today announced that it has secured its first institutional round of financing. The Series A capital investment was led by Tech Coast Angels (TCA) which is the largest network of Angel investors in the US.

IntraStage designs software to provide intelligence and analytics around improving product quality as the product progresses through its lifecycle stages of R&D, Supplier,  Manufacturing and Field Operations.   Already a revenue generating company with Fortune 1000 customers such as Motorola,  Panasonic and Northrop Grumman, IntraStage will use the new round of financing to further build out its sales, support and R&D infrastructure.

“We’ve essentially created Google Analytics for product quality test data” said CEO Patrick Kelly.

“Electronics manufacturing companies may or may not know that they are already spending significant amounts of money on this problem of capturing and reporting on product test data.  This can be through some internal ad-hoc software solution or just through the manual methods used by Test,  Operations and Manufacturing Engineers to get the answers they are looking for.   We estimate that up to $1B  is being spent annually on this problem in the USA alone.”

Bob Fried, former CIO of Staples and of other technology companies, who led the Tech Coast Angel round says “IntraStage is supplying a solution to a mission critical problem for companies who see quality as a differentiating factor in their product strategy.  The time is right for  IntraStage because its enabling technology can help a customer to achieve dramatic bottom line improvements in operations efficiency and product quality.”

Fortune 100 Company in Mid-West USA Chooses IntraStage to replace Homegrown SPC Data Collection and Reporting software

(USA)  – IntraStage, a provider of Test Data Management, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Analytics software solutions has been chosen to replace the existing SPC software infrastructure at a Fortune 100 company building highly-engineered products.

SPC and Six Sigma practices are now a business norm amongst companies in the Electronics Industry.  These SPC practices mandate continuous monitoring, feedback and improvement of their manufacturing processes. “We have seen a large number of customers build a homegrown software solution to solve their Test Data Management and SPC mandates” says Patrick Kelly, CEO of IntraStage. “Typically these customers have had a solution for a long time or just starting to building one. Although this gets some flexibility for the customer in the way of customization there are some drawbacks that substantially increase the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the long run. Such issues such as losing original software developers, adding new features, maintaining underlying technology upgrades and overall modularity are some of the bigger issues”.

By moving to a standard Commercial-off-the-Shelf SPC solution, the customer will experience significant leading-edge technology upgrades and will be able to redeploy staff to focus on adding value to the company rather than just trying to maintain an archaic and aging software system. In addition, IntraStage will provide a solid roadmap of new features which will be fed by industry best practices.

Smart Grid Technology Provider chooses IntraStage to monitor Manufacturing quality

(USA) IntraStage, a provider of Test Data Management, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Analytics software solutions, announced a deployment with a global provider of equipment for Smart Grid electric power systems headquartered on the East Coast USA.

With the passing of the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act in the USA, there has been a focused priority to modernize the electricity grid to improve reliability and efficiency.  Most infrastructure in the USA has an average age of 42 years and the signs of this aging is showing up in expansive power outages that have been seen in the 2011 blackout in Southern California and the 2003 outage in New York. “Companies who have traditionally manufactured electric power systems understand their technology is evolving into embedding more complex electronics in order to meet upcoming Smart Grid deployments” says Patrick Kelly, CEO of IntraStage. “With this increased complexity comes the need to better monitor and alert on any quality issues. IntraStage solves this problem quite well with our database and SPC analytics software.”

As Smart Grid technology becomes commonplace it is becoming mission critical that Quality and Test Managers react quickly to any electric power system components that may have failed in the field.  The customer will use IntraStage to quickly identify the characteristics of those field parts and also monitor yield to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.
