(USA) IntraStage, a provider of Test Data Management, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Analytics software solutions, announced a deployment with a global provider of equipment for Smart Grid electric power systems headquartered on the East Coast USA.

With the passing of the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act in the USA, there has been a focused priority to modernize the electricity grid to improve reliability and efficiency.  Most infrastructure in the USA has an average age of 42 years and the signs of this aging is showing up in expansive power outages that have been seen in the 2011 blackout in Southern California and the 2003 outage in New York. “Companies who have traditionally manufactured electric power systems understand their technology is evolving into embedding more complex electronics in order to meet upcoming Smart Grid deployments” says Patrick Kelly, CEO of IntraStage. “With this increased complexity comes the need to better monitor and alert on any quality issues. IntraStage solves this problem quite well with our database and SPC analytics software.”

As Smart Grid technology becomes commonplace it is becoming mission critical that Quality and Test Managers react quickly to any electric power system components that may have failed in the field.  The customer will use IntraStage to quickly identify the characteristics of those field parts and also monitor yield to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.
